I’m Jo Mularczyk. Thanks for joining my writing journey. Unlike Robert Frost, I'm setting out to travel three pathways by writing fiction, providing corporate writing services and writing on education issues.
Benjamin Franklin once said “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing”. I’m hoping to achieve the first!
Please browse around, have a read and if you’d like to get in touch I’d love to hear from you.
I am an unashamedly suburban Aussie girl. I live in the north western suburbs of Sydney with my husband and three children. I spend a great deal of time at tennis courts watching my children. I love reading, writing, board games and watching movies or television. Although I was a very sporty kid I am more of an indoor girl these days (with the exception of those tennis hours of course)!
I was a slow convert to the world of social media and hesitant to create a writer’s website. If you read my poetry and short stories you will detect a theme in a few of them about the ominous power of technology. While this is a literary exaggeration, my children have taken great (and slightly perverse) joy in watching me "technology"! And now here I am adrift in cyberspace.....
A few years ago I dusted off an old ambition to write fiction. I have had a few early successes including publication in various magazines and anthologies. In the Fiction Writing section you can read about my achievements so far and see some of my work. I am currently working on junior fiction and picture book manuscripts with the goal of publication. I enjoy mentoring a student gifted and talented writing group and I am an author with the Littlescribe literacy program. www.littlescribe.com
The most challenging and rewarding of all my roles, has been as mother to my three children. Choosing to take a lengthy career break to stay at home with them, I have been very involved in their education. I served as secretary and president of the local parents and citizens association and helped assemble the corporate governance structure of this organisation. I have been involved in developing policies within the school, advocating on behalf of the school community, guiding decision making, facilitating communication and issues management. I currently mentor a creative writing group for gifted and talented students. I am now collaborating with my sister-in-law, a lifelong educator, to write about some of the key education issues facing teachers, students and parents. See my Education Writing section for more details.
My working background is in the corporate world. There I managed corporate strategy, coordinated the privatisation of a state owned entity, delivered communications packages, produced annual reports, corporate plans and government submissions, and managed stakeholder relationships. I am available to provide writing, review or edit services. If you have a document you need created, content that needs to be revised, collated, streamlined, edited or restructured then please contact me. See my Corporate Writing section for my resume and other details.
Please join my email list so I can update you on progress in relation to my fiction and education writing. If you are interested in engaging my corporate services please contact me via the Contact Me page.
