My economics degree landed me into the corporate world courtesy of a graduate recruitment scheme. I found my niche in corporate strategy and planning and was fortunate to be employed within a state owned entity during a decade of exciting changes. I was thrilled to be at the forefront of the privatisation process becoming involved in vendor due diligence, bidder presentations, management of communications, government submissions and stakeholder management. It was also while working here that I met my husband – who says business isn’t romantic?!
Later, after the sale of our corporation and the birth of my first son, I provided consulting services to various government agencies. I produced annual reports and other corporate documents. This required an understanding of the legislative requirements, the development of a structure, consultation with stakeholders, collation of information from various sections of the organisation and revising, creating and editing content into a consistent corporate message.
